A few kind words

7th September 2010

It can be amazing how a few kind words can make all the difference to my mood.  Even better when it’s from people I least expect.  This happened twice today from people who don’t know me in real life so even nicer to read.  One is an expectant mother who is placing her baby for adoption and the other is an adoptive mother.  Both believe what I have been through so persistence has paid off for wanting to tell my truth.

I know at times I can be sarcastic, be short and have no patience when it comes to adoption.  It’s the attitudes that get to me and the narrow mindedness that annoy me.  Some people just don’t want to be educated or believe the dark side of adoption.  Just one person changing their attitude and wanting to be educated makes it all worthwhile so more than that is a bonus.

About Philippa

I am married to Rick and we live in a small town in County Durham. We have two dogs, a cat and two budgies. I am also an adoption survivor. In 1981 my son was born and I was then forced to surrender him. It took 23 years and reunion for my to find out that my son's adoption was legally known as a forced adoption and illegal but social workers got away with it because mothers didn't know their rights.
