Busy again

11th August 2011

We have been so busy again and it’s felt like we haven’t had any time to ourselves. A Scottish friend came to visit with her husband recently on their way home from a stay in London.  It was lovely to see her as we have ‘known’ each other for a few years through the internet.  I enjoyed sharing latest news with her and talking about people we have got to know online .  She has met more than I have so it was good to listen to her.  They were with us for about four hours but it didn’t seem like it.

I have got another new website now called Forgotten Mothers UK – http://www.forgottenmothersuk.org.uk – with a forum attached to it.  The site is very basic at the moment but I will be working on that over the next week or two.  Adoption reform needs to happen in the UK as there is much room for improvement and forced adoption needs to end.

This evening a neighbour (moving in now) who suffers with asthma suffered an anxiety attack.  Rick and another neighbour had gone to collect her television so sent another friend to get me,  An ambulance was on its way so I sat with trying to keep her as calm as possible.  Her oxygen level was fine so the ambulance crew stayed long enough to make sure she was calm and breathing normally.  She was told to ring 999 if she had problems breathing again.   We left her our home phone number so if she does go into hospital we will follow up in the car.

About Philippa

I am married to Rick and we live in a small town in County Durham. We have two dogs, a cat and two budgies. I am also an adoption survivor. In 1981 my son was born and I was then forced to surrender him. It took 23 years and reunion for my to find out that my son's adoption was legally known as a forced adoption and illegal but social workers got away with it because mothers didn't know their rights.
